PAGE LAYOUT

Choose A4, Letter or image-shaped PDF pages

Compare the three page options and see how fit, margins and source proportions affect the saved PDF.

A PDF made from images still needs a page-layout decision. RSSheetPack offers A4, US Letter and image-shaped pages. The first two place each source inside a standard portrait page with margins. The third creates a page following the image proportions without the standard margin.

Choose according to the final reading or printing job

A4 and Letter are useful when the recipient expects one of those sheet formats. Choose the sheet requested by the destination rather than assuming one is universal. Image-shaped pages suit a screen-reading document where preserving each source shape is more important than using a common physical sheet. A wide source and a tall source can therefore produce different page proportions with that option.

Understand the standard-page fit

For A4 and Letter, the tool leaves a 30-point margin on each side and fits the complete image inside the remaining rectangle. Letter uses a 612 by 792 point page, leaving 552 by 732 points for the image. A square source therefore occupies 552 by 552 points and is centered with additional vertical space. It is not stretched into a tall rectangle.

Treat image-shaped pages as their own layout

The image-shaped option uses the source pixel numbers as the PDF page dimensions in points. A 1200 by 800 source creates a 1200 by 800 point page in this implementation. That keeps the proportions, but it does not mean that a camera resolution tag becomes a specific print size. The printer or viewer may scale the page when fitting it onto a physical sheet.

Inspect the saved PDF in the intended viewer

Download the result, inspect a representative page and review a print preview if the file will be printed. Check the chosen sheet, visible margins and readability after scaling. If the source is a wide diagram, standard portrait fitting can make labels smaller than expected. Prepare appropriate source images or choose the page option deliberately before building the complete multi-page document.
